Not one but two mirror living rooms are set off on each side of the main entry to Villa Taj. One envisioned to be the Formal Living Room connects to the Formal Dining Room through a hallway, which opens into the adjoining Dining Lounge. Across from the Lounge are the separate, temperature-controlled Cigar Room and Wine Cellar. On the opposite side of the home, the companion Living Room is envisioned to work as a Conservatory—showcase a Grand Piano and enjoy the elegant ambiance with a musical backdrop. Adjacent to the Conservatory (living room) is the Library.
Each of the two Living Rooms is 30 feet by 30 feet, and feature custom-built floor to ceiling wood shelving with a six-layer custom mixed stain, designed to bring out the nuances and natural beauty of the wood. A fireplace graces the interior corner, while ornamental, custom double doors close off the room from the entry vestibule.
As a library or an office, the elegance of this room evolves from the floor-to-ceiling wood bookcases that line all four walls, and the elaborately detailed wood ceiling, with hand-painted glass covering the lights above.
The 27-by-32 foot Formal Dining Room can comfortably accommodate up to thirty for a seated dinner. Adjoining this along the hallway that connects the Formal Dining Room to the Formal Living Room, is the Dining Lounge, in which to enjoy a fine scotch or cognac, après dinner. Across from the Lounge are the separate, temperature-controlled Cigar Room and Wine Cellar.
Expansive in size, yet cozy in feel, the Grand Kitchen is certain to be a favorite family gathering place. It features dark wood cabinetry, full slab marble or granite countertops, and a large central island with separate sink for preparing informal meals or accommodating a working catering staff.
The kitchen is not yet fitted with appliances, but areas have been measured to accommodate commercial-grade Sub-Zero refrigerators and Viking stoves and cook-tops. Spaces have also been set aside for an espresso bar, pizza oven, microwaves and whatever else one can desire. A separate exit door passes through to the Butler Station, adjacent to the Ballroom. Walkout double doors extend on to the terrace.
Gather family and friends together in the Family Entertainment Room, designed for enjoying music or movies to the fullest. A floor-to-ceiling wood cabinet is designed to house a home theater system, accommodating up to a 72” plasma display. Accenting this 30-foot by 27-foot Great Room is a custom-designed fireplace, fully covered in 1” thick Pineapple Onyx from Mexico, with black granite detailing.
The centerpiece of the residence, the Ballroom, is 2,400 square feet in size with a ceiling height of 38 feet, and is bordered by sixteen columns on the lower level and fourteen columns on the balcony level above. The Ballroom is serviced by an adjoining Butler’s station with full wet-bar, which also enters into the Grand Kitchen. Double French doors lead from the Ballroom to an adjacent terrace.
At 2,400 square feet, the Imperial Bedroom Suite is designed with every luxurious comfort in mind. Pass through the custom-crafted doors with camel-bone inlays into the expansive 1,100-square foot bedroom and sitting area, accented by an ornate fireplace.
Adjoining this is a 1,100-square-foot bath- and dressing room, which includes over 300 feet of closet space, with his and hers seasonal storage areas.
The bath area includes an oversize Jacuzzi tub with seating—and water pressure sufficient to fill the tub within minutes. The spacious shower—with dual rainshower heads—converts to a steam room. Within this tiled area is space to easily accommodate a massage table—or two.
Bordering one side of the bath and dressing room is a carved hardwood Vanity and Beverage Bar. The Vanity is designed to facilitate professional makeup and hair salon services, while the beverage bar features an espresso area as well as a mini-fridge for chilling water…or champagne.
Both the bedroom/sitting area, as well as the bath/dressing area, open onto the wrap-around terrace, ample in size for lounge-style seating, and perfectly positioned to capture summer breezes.
Each of the five additional Master Bedroom Suites is gracious in size, to accommodate bedroom and seating areas, and complemented by decorative fireplaces. Bathrooms are substantial and finished from floor to ceiling in gold Jerusalem stone. Each features rainshowers as well as Jacuzzi tubs—with the ability to convert to a private steam room. Each of these suites also has a walk-in closet with carved natural wood detailing, and handcrafted ornamental doors. One of the Master Suites—the Guest Suite—has its own service bar, with mini-fridge, sink and stove.
On the lower level, the sizeable Games Room features a wood-paneled floor and a 20-foot long professional-quality Bar, complete with ice machine, cooler, glass washer and double-sink. Backing the Bar are display cabinets, as well as a large beveled mirror.
Accenting this area are two full columns and four half-columns, all made from Gold Jerusalem stone. Three sets of French doors open from the Games Room to the back garden areas, site of the planned pool and pool pavilion.
Villa Taj boasts a heated, 20-car garage—complete with a space for detailing—to accommodate the collection of the most discriminating automotive aficionado.
Also located on the lower level, between the Games Room and garage, is a Theatre room, as well as a room sized to facilitate a two-lane Bowling Alley.
Additionally, full Service Quarters are located on the lower level.
